Federated Aid Relief Mission (FARM) Charity

 
The furious typhoons that ravaged the Philippines in September and October 2009 serves as a grim reminder of the importance of being prepared. In November 2008 I launched Federated Aid Relief Mission (FARM) in preparation for the calamities that can happen to our country.

After years of fund raising for natural disasters like earthquakes, typhoons, floods, and the Mount Pinatubo eruption that had occurred in the Philippines, not to mention the numerous fundraising I have done or had been involved in for Canadian communities, I have come to conclude that it is better to have funds ready ahead of need. For this reason, FARM has been created with the hope that calamities don't happen to the country. If this is the case, half of the funds available will go to GAWAD KALINGA www.gawadkalinga.org as defined in the FARM by-layws. I am one of the many supporters of GK which includes citizens of other countries and also former Philippine President Ramos, who not only gave a generous donation, but also came to Canada to promote the project. According to a local Filipino newspaper "Every village where GAWAD KALINGA builds, crime, disease, ignorance, poverty and drug addiction disappears." This project also brings the Christians and the Muslims together to work and live harmoniously.  I believe this is one of the best things that has happened to the Philippines.

As a septuagenarian who had endured excruciating back pain for many years that needed an eight-hour surgery to remove the tumor attached to my spinal cord, I believe God has granted me a little more of life. I would like to use my extended life and health to serve Him by serving my country and the people who are less fortunate. There are so many ways to raise funds and they can be fun, like bus trips to casinos, dinner dances, concerts etc. Another excellent source of donations is - when in need of real estate services - ask your agent to contribute a portion of his/her commission to the mission. I am the founder of FARM and will be the acting CEO until I am incapacitated. Father Tony Pablo has agreed to be the sole keeper of the funds.
